Langtang Gosainkund Circuit 20 Days Trip, 15 Days Trekking. Max Altitude: 4700m
Only a few hours drive north of Kathmandu is a trek that is worlds away from the bustle of the city. We start walking at Dunche, following the Trisuli river through the lush foothills, past banana trees and thatched cottages, bountiful crops and green forests, we journey upwards and on, leaving the river far below us.
From the first days, the mountains are staggeringly beautiful. First Mailung then Ganesh Himal (7,122m) and Langtang (7,246m) and finally the Annapurna range, stretch across the sky. At Kyangjin Gompa, we spend a night in what is one of the most stunning spots of all our treks. Out of the lonely, sparsely inhabited valley, rise sharp, white peaks, an awe-inspiring experience.
Leaving this pinnacle of beauty, we return to Syabru. Nights here are an opportunity to enjoy the relaxed village life, visit the local Buddhist Gompa, meet the old monks and play with the friendly children.
Up again, to the serene calm of Shing Gompa and then further up to the three sacred lakes of Gosainkund. A strenuous but rewarding days hike carries us over the Gosainkund pass to the Helambu valley which brings us back almost to the Kathmandu valley.
